Beer Pong - “A drinking game in which players throw a ping-pong ball across a table with the intent of landing the ball in one of 10 or 6 cups of beer on the other end.
Robot - “A virtual or mechanical artificial agent. In practice, it is usually an electro-mechanical system which, by its appearance or movements, conveys a sense that it has intent or agency of its own.”
Add them together and what do you get? Totally awesome ping pong ball hurling machines! That’s right these beer pong robots were designed to acquire targets (usually solo cups) and determine the distance to the target, then fire a ping-pong balls into your beer at the other end of the table.
This puppy can recognize solo cups by their shape and color, determine its angle and distance, then fire a ping pong ball to land in the cup from 8 feet away. Amazing!
This rig has all the spinning, actuators, and wires a hardcore nerd could ever dream of.
Our favorite design to-date is air compressed and can visually target each cup in automatic mode or manual.
Not the sleekest design possible, but it’s deadly accurate.
This kid is our only chance at defeating the beer pong robots! I couldn’t help myself.
